England C (ICT) Preview of the Highbury game.

By Sam Heaney
The England C Team were formed in 1979 formally known as the ‘England Non-League team.’ They are managed by Paul Fairclough who has been in the job since 2003. He was managing Barnet at the same time until he left the League 2 side in December 2008.

The squad is made up of Non-League players. They have to be aged 23 and under. The majority of players selected are full-time footballers.

The home games are played at various grounds around the country so it is a great privilege for the club to have the recognition by the FA thanks to the superb facilities here at Highbury.

Fleetwood Town’s attacking-midfielder, Danny Rose has been called up to the squad for today’s game. The 23 year old has played for the C team before so is no stranger to the occasion and will feel very much at home having played on the surface before which can only benefit the Three Lions.

Paul Fairclough has named 16 players in his squad, all from the Conference Premier apart from Hyde’s prolific goal scorer, Scott Spencer, who plays in the Conference North. 10 of the 16 have been called up for the first time.

The squad picked for the game are as following:

Goalkeepers

Preston Edwards (Ebbsfleet United), Jonathan Hedge (Tamworth)

Defenders

Mickey Demetriou (Kidderminster Harriers), Eddie Oshodi (Forest Green Rovers), Andrew Owens (Southport), Kevin Roberts (Cambridge United), Jamie Turley (Forest Green Rovers)

Midfielders

Kenny Davis (Braintree Town), Kieron Forbes (Forest Green Rovers), Michael Coulson (Grimsby Town), Adam Watkins (Luton Town), Matty Blair (York City)

Forwards

We hope you enjoy this evenings game, Come on England!
