The work of Fleetwood Town Juniors has continued to have a positive impact in the local community.
The Club recently presented a cheque to Brian House for £675. The Hospice provides a ‘home from home’ environment with care for children and young adults across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre who have life threatening and/or life limiting conditions.
The money was raised through a charity football match which took place at Highbury stadium involving the Juniors playing against St Annes. Raffle tickets were also sold during the game to raise money by the Fleetwood Town Under-12 Girls team. The raffle, then an auction took place in Jim’s Bar after the final whistle. Parents from both teams provided the raffle prizes and nearby companies kindly donated towards the auction.
Entertainment in the bar was then provided by local band, Lune Deep, who kindly gave up their time to perform.
Manager of the Under 12 boys team and an organiser of the day, Julian Prescott stated: ‘Myself and Tony Bradley (St Annes) came up with the idea not only to raise funds for a worthy cause but to show all our youngsters the importance of giving something back to the community as they are all, by comparison, very fortunate individuals.’
Two of the players were taken to Brian House and were given a very informative tour and also had the privilege of meeting some of the children there.
Julian and his team have been invited back to the Children’s Hospice anytime.
‘We will be following up the invitation as the lads we took had a positive and educational experience. I would like to thank St Annes Football Club, Fleetwood Town and the local firms along with everyone else who helped on the day.’
The fantastic set up would not be where it is now without funding. Donations towards Brian House can make a huge difference.
