(Youth Team Goalkeeper) Joe Wheeler Interview.

Fleetwood Town’s Youth Team goalkeeper, Joe Wheeler, a second year scholar with the club, showed a very strong performance between the sticks in the Lancashire FA Final for Town.

It was the his first piece of silverware picked up for Fleetwood in his 2 year career with the team.

‘It was a good night for the lads. Its nice to pick up some silverware in the second year.’

‘I thought the team played some really good football at times, despite Nelson coming back into the game in the second half, we managed to finish them off at the end.’

Wheeler is no stranger to having a medal around his neck.

‘I have won medals plenty of times before with my junior side, Foxhall. The lads are used to winning things at that club.’

The Youth side also have a chance to finish the season at the top the league table.

‘We have a few league games left, as well as reserve games, hopefully we can win the league.’

‘It’s a good experience playing in the reserves, especially playing with some of the first team, it’s just about getting used to it.’

The Blackpool-born player has put in some solid performance’s since signing with Fleetwood and it goes to show what a great set-up the club has.
